Betty's Banana Pudding

My mom loves banana pudding.  I'd venture to say it's her favorite dessert, even surpassing mint chocolate chip ice cream, which we both love.  Because she loves it so much, I've made many, many versions over the years for Mother's Day, her birthday, etc.  I've even made banana pudding cheesecake, ice cream, poke cake, and cupcakes.  But - no more.  I've found the holy grail of banana pudding recipes, and you don't mess with perfection.  This came courtesy of one of my best friends, Sarah, and was her aunt Betty's recipe.  This is particularly hilarious because Sarah is not a cook (at all).  She does, however, make a mean banana pudding and she now gets credit for giving me one of my favorite recipes ever!

5 c. milk
3 small packages vanilla instant pudding
8 oz. sour cream
8 oz. Cool Whip (so, the recipe calls for 7 - just eat a couple spoonfuls out of the container like I did!)
1/4 tsp. vanilla
Dash of salt
Box of Nilla wafers (Sarah suggested the mini, and I agree - they were perfect!)
Bananas (the recipe didn't specify - I used 4ish)

Combine milk and vanilla pudding and beat.  Add sour cream, vanilla, and salt.  Fold in Cool Whip.  Layer Nilla wafers, bananas, and pudding in a dish, finishing with wafers on top.
